Will We Make it Through the 21st Century?

Oxford University’s, James Martin says that the 21st century is the “make or break century”.  A transition, like one we’ve never seen before, will occur.  If the transition goes well, humanity will have a magnificent future.  If it goes badly, we may be thrown into a new dark age or worse!

According to Computerworld, James Martin is fourth among the top 25 individuals who have most influenced the world of computer science. The Sunday Time’s called him “Britain’s leading futurist.”

Martin has honorary doctorates from all six continents and has written 104 textbooks, many of which have been seminal in their field. He also wrote The Meaning of the 21st Century, which was made into a major film, and is a Pulitzer nominee for his book The Wired Society: A challenge for tomorrow. 21st century

James Martin is renowned for his electrifying lectures about the future and several years ago became the largest individual benefactor to Oxford University. Due to his donating over 100 million dollars and founding the Oxford Martin School, which has 30 institutes researching the problems, dangers and opportunities of the future.

This school’s focus is how to make the world a better place.  Dealing with nanotechnology, and computers that produce a million trillion operations per second.  Global warming will become more socially aware than political.  If we continue to build massive power structures like the ones China is currently constructing. Farms will begin to close in Africa and other places around the world due to lack of water.  Currently, China is looking all over the world for land to farm. If we don’t get ahead of these problems we will face a giga-famine the worst the world has ever seen. If we do everything right and at the right times we can stop it but it will take a lot of intelligent people working together.

The people in government don’t have the knowledge of this sort, it will be IBM, Google and others that will take the lead.  Intelligent young people from all over the world with new ideas and insights will produce the answers we need. But we have to move on it, we cannot waste any time.

Ayurveda Science of Health

Ayurveda Science of Health

(pronounced i-yer-vay-da)

The original science of health is as old as the human race and is called Ayurveda, which is Sanskrit for “science of life.” The written records of this complete system of natural health care are about 5,000 years old. From age to age, sages and physicians have rediscovered this timeless health wisdom.

In 1980, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation program, maharishibegan working with three of India’s top ayurvedic experts, Dr. V.M. Dwivedi, Dr. B.D. Triguna and Dr. Balaraj Maharishi. They revived the ancient knowledge of health and called it Maharishi Ayurveda. They formed a medical council that created our authentic herbal formulas according to the ayurvedic texts. They also established an international network of doctors, clinics and schools that are dedicated to eliminating disease and offering perfect health to the people of every nation.

Ayurveda

According to Ayurveda, health is not a state defined by lab tests or yearly check ups. Health is a continuous and participatory process that embraces all aspects of life: physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, spiritual, familial, social, and universal. Achieving balance on all levels of being is the true measure of vibrant health. The average person and standardized treatment simply do not exist in Ayurvedic medicine. Every individual is a one-of-a-kind with an equally unique blueprint for health. By providing a universal framework for understanding these blueprints, Ayurveda teaches us to honor and support our true individual natures.

The underlying prescription of Ayurvedic medicine is quite simple: recognize the power of self-healing within, and you will become your own greatest doctor!

Ayurveda

The three doshas are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each dosha has an anatomical, physiological, and psychological expression. They are each associated with two of the five basic elements of nature, which are air, ether, fire, water and earth. The state of harmony or disharmony amongst the doshas is reflected by the state of health in the individual.

The doshas, though not visible to the naked eyes, are considered to exist in the material realm. They are intricately connected with every cell and molecule of life, and respond not only to physical factors, but also to those that exist beyond form.  The doshas are thus highly intelligent, and directly connected to the greater intelligence of all of creation.

The three doshas are said to be the physical manifestation of three subtle forces, which are at the origin of all of creation. Like the doshas, these forces interact in a dynamic shifting of powers, thus giving rise to the infinite universe with its endless possibilities. They are called called Prana, Tejas and Ojas, and they give rise to Vata, Pitta and Kapha, respectively.

While the word dosha can be translated as “fault” or “imbalance”, it is in the continual dance between these three forces that balance, harmony and perfection can be found. By examining the state of the doshas and addressing health problems based on which doshas are out of balance, Ayurvedic treatments can be better tailored to suit each individual`s needs.

Attempts to restore health that do not take into account the underlying influence of the doshas will generally only provide temporary symptomatic relief, but will not produce lasting effects due to the all-pervading force of the doshas.

Ayurvedic treatments include herbal remedies, dietary recommendations, yoga and other exercises, meditation, herbal steam baths, and massage or other treatments using medicinal oil preparations.

Ayurveda approach focuses in identifying imbalances in the body and mind and restores balance to support the innate healing and self repair process within the body.

Acknowledged by the World Health Organization, Ayruveda’s practice plays an important part in your overall daily  health and the  prevention of disease.

Amrit

Amrit

One of their most popular herbs is called Amrit.  Amrit is a multi-ingredient formula based upon ancient Ayurvedic texts. It is used as an overall tonic for the maintenance and promotion of health. From the standpoint of modern science a considerable amount of research has been done on Amrit showing that in vitro this supplement is a very potent antioxidant as well as a potent anti-cancer agent.

Some free radical production in the body is inevitable but the body has mechanisms for defending itself or cleaning the free radicals up. But sometimes if there are a lot of toxins or if there is a lot of stress in the physiology, the body can fall behind in this cleaning up process.

The free radicals can get the upper edge, leading to physiologic damage and disease. But the role of a free radical scavenger or antioxidant such as the Amrit paste and tablets is to give the body an edge-to help to protect the body from these toxins. Amrit helps put the physiology a step ahead of the game in its ongoing battle against the buildup of free radicals.

Cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis may be linked to free radical damage. There are people who think that neuro- degenerative diseases can be linked to free radical damage. The aging process in general can be linked to free radical damage. And broadly speaking, if we consider what we just discussed-that free radicals are always being produced and that the body, with its own natural mechanisms, is constantly waging a battle at a molecular level against free radical damage-it may be fair to say that most chronic illnesses have some component of free radical damage as part of their ideology.

There’s good data showing that Amrit is a more potent antioxidant than many of the commonly used vitamins. And in addition, Amrit is a multi-ingredient prepared with synergistic properties such that it can scavenge a broader range of free radicals than many of the single vitamin preparations.

Restoring Balance

When your body is out of balance, it’s like a guitar out of tune. Maharishi Ayurveda products act as a tuning fork, bringing specific aspects of the mind-body system back into balance and eliminating the problem at its source.

 Whole Herbs vs. Active Ingredients

The herbs in Maharishi Ayurveda products are prepared in the traditional Ayurvedic way, using the whole herb instead of the active ingredient. This improves assimilation, creates holistic balance and prevents negative side effects.

The Magic of Synergy

Ayurveda calls it sanyog — the science of combining to create results far greater than the benefits of each herb in isolation. Every herb has a specific function.

* The balancing herbs are crucial because they cancel any side effects that could result from taking single herbs in isolation over the long term.
